What
is teeth whitening ?
It is
a professional treatment that gets your teeth whiter. The
product is called dental bleach and the active ingredient
is carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide.

What
are the benefits from teeth whitening?
Once you
whiten your teeth you will be taking off years of dental staining
due to the staining effect from daily consumption of food,
drink or smoking. Most people who use professional whitening
products feel more confident and will get that feel good factor.
How
white are teeth when using a professional dental peroxide
product?
You can
experience upto 10+ shades lighter. It is a gradual process
over 14 days. You can finish the course earlier if you have
the level of whitening you desire.
How
to use the product ?
You apply a small dose of gel into the trays and wear them
for 30 min's each day for 14 days.ours after treatment.
What should I do during treatment
?
Only use
the product for 30 min's. Always read the enclosed instructions.
What is the difference between carbamide
and hydrogen peroxide?
Carbamide
is a by-product of hydrogen. It is a weaker form of hydrogen.
When you use carbamide in your dental trays, the gel is activated
and a chemical reaction will occur and carbamide will then
breakdown into hydrogen peroxide.
How much hydrogen peroxide is in carbamide
peroxide gel?
This is the formula. (Simply divide
Carbamide Peroxide Percentage by 3.)
What is the advantage of using hydrogen
peroxide gel compared to using carbamide peroxide?
Hydrogen peroxide is more rapid and seems
to work a little more faster than carbamide.
What
gel strength should I purchase?
10%
carbamide peroxide is ideal if you are looking for
a very slow acting whitening treatment that is very gentle.
16% carbamide
peroxide is a "mid strength gel"
stronger than the 10%
carbamide peroxide and weaker than
the 22%
carbamide peroxide .
22% carbamide
peroxide is ideal if your use to 16% carbamide
peroxide and need more faster acting
results with shorter wear time.
9.5%
Hydrogen peroxide is great for very short wear times
as you can use this for just 15mins.
Is
teeth whitening safe ?
Yes. Happy
Smile only supply trusted dentist approved products and brands.
What happens if I get gel on my gums?
If you
get any gel on your gums then simply remove it with a damp
cotton bud or small damp cloth.
What
about side affects ?
Minor temporary sensitivity can happen but this can be prevented
by using Sensodyne toothpaste during treatment. We also supply
professional
desensitiser gels.
Is
it safe to use on all fillings, veneers, crowns and bridges
?
Yes. You
can even use dental bleach with gold crowns. Do remember that
dental bleach will not whiten fillings, crowns, bridges or
veneers as it will only whiten natural teeth.
I
am new to teeth whitening what should I use ?
Usually
most people start with 16% carbamide peroxide strength.

Is
there anything I can do to make the whitening more effective?
Yes. Simply pat the teeth dry with a tissue prior to bleaching.
What
if I swallow the gel?
The gel will not harm you in the quantities swallowed. We
do not recommend sleeping with trays in your mouth.
Should
I brush teeth before use?
Do not brush your teeth immediately before whitening, as this
may cause discomfort to soft tissue and lessen the effectiveness
of the whitening process. If brushing is done with fluoride
toothpaste, the mouth should be rinsed well with water to
remove as much fluoride as possible.
How
should I store my teeth whitening gels?
Teeth whitening gels should be refrigerated or stored in a
cool environment. (Gel should be at room temperature before
use). Be careful of heat producing items such as lights that
will increase the temperature of the gel. The shelf life of
gel will be extended if it is kept cool, below 50º F.
How
much gel should I use in the trays?
Simply use enough gel so that it whitens your teeth and apply
to the inside of the mouth trays, full instructions will be
enclosed.
How

How
long will teeth whitening gels last before they expire?
The teeth whitening gels we supply have a long shelf-life
of about eighteen months if kept cool.
Is
teeth whitening permanent?
Yes! Whitening your teeth by this method is permanent. However,
depending on the amount of coffee, tea, wine and other stain
causing food you consume re-staining may occur. You may wish
to have a touch up every 6- 12 months.
How
long does the whitening process take?
30 min's wear time for 14 days using carbamide peroxide.
Is
teeth whitening suitable for everyone?
Yes as long as you are dental healthy. Dental bleaching is
not ideal if your pregnant or a nursing mother.
